First Generation History
My father’s Great-Great-Great-Grandfather, Mastro Bruno Pelaggi.
September 15, 1837 – January 6, 1912
Mastro Bruno Pelaggi is the first-generation stonemason of the Pelaggi history family line. Mastro was an accomplished stonemason, Sculptor, and Poet noted in 19th-century Calabrian society.
The video below shows the monument’s Inauguration in the Serra San Bruno, Province of Vibo Valentia cemetery, in honor of the Poet and stonemason Mastro Bruno Pelaggi.
Third & Fourth Generation, Pelaggi's
My father immigrated to the United States, continuing his stone cutter and monument designer talent.
We were making monuments and headstones and selling them from our garage. Around 1977, my dad and I opened our first location in Hanover, NJ.
I have worked alongside my father since I was eight years old. His dream of creating a long-lasting legacy has become a reality.
Following in my father’s footsteps, I have honed my talent and expertise in creating monuments and headstones. And now my son, Gabriel Pelaggi V, is following in our footsteps.
More than 50 years later, our business continues to grow each year. The quality of craftsmanship in every monument, headstone, and mausoleum design is a testament to our expertise and your assurance of a lasting tribute.
Our success and dedication to doing what we love have brought Pelaggi Monuments to their second location in Dover, NJ.
My wife, Margaret, has joined us in assisting with running the business’s daily office operations and helping families carry on our family tradition.
Here in Dover, New Jersey, we proudly display our beautiful and diverse range of monuments and lettering. Each masterpiece is a testament to our fine craftsmanship.
We invite you to visit us and be inspired by the artistry that goes into each design.
Sixth Generation, Pelaggi.
172 years later
We are still creating the Pelaggi legacy.
Dear Gabe and Margaret,
There are no words to tell you how magnificent your work is and how pleased and touched we were upon viewing Mark’s headstone for the first time. Simply put, it is more beautiful than we could have imagined. I can give you the highest compliment from our son, Peter, and his wife, Christine. They both agreed that Mark would have loved it. We find peace at the grave, seeing Mark’s smiling face and knowing he will be remembered for eternity as he was in life. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and help during our first moments of grief and your expert work.
Warm regards,
Bob and Cathy Relovsky, Hackettstown, NJ
